Going with the Flow of Summer...
Sayonara ListenUp NYC Calendar, til maybe we meet again in fall?!
It is Wednesday, and I haven’t posted anything. I was at the waterfall, dipping into the freezing pool into which it flowed. I was with friends watching the sun rise over the Catskill Mountains. I was talking to a group of people at the beautiful new flower and gift shop, Rooted, in Tannersville about Mantras (Man=Mind, Tra=Tool) and making mala necklaces with them before offering a sound bath, discussing how the sound and vibration we make during our own chanting meditation can offer peace and healing, be a tool for the mind.

Sitting on my deck, I found one overturned dragonfly, its diaphanous wings still, and righted it. It seemed to spring back to life and flew away. The next day, I discovered another dragonfly, wings soaked from the rain, and worked and worked for hours trying to help it along, blow on its wings to dry them, pulling them from where they stuck to the table, moving it away from hungry ants, and it seemed to no avail. I found it curled up and keeled over. I righted it and left it and when I checked later it was gone. Maybe it was carried off, eaten by a bird. Maybe it wasn’t dead after all, and had flown away. I’ll never know. You win some you lose some I guess. Trying to help can go in a myriad of ways:)
I picked lettuces at Fromer Market Gardens farm and learned better how to make a vinaigrette from Jessie’s Harvest House chef and owner Phil DiFalco. Super fun to see where food actually comes from, to savor what comes straight up from the soil.

Nature takes a front seat in summer, and sticking to a calendar seems unlikely.
That is all to say that I’m going to take a break from providing a music calendar til at least September. I love supporting musicians and what they do, and will most likely look for opportunities to partake in music when and where possible, and I hope you will to!
I am embarking on some new writing and creative projects, so am not yet sure what I will decide to do with this particular creative endeavor, which I have enjoyed immensely. It was a natural outcropping of my being a huge groupie of so many fabulous bands, and I’ve met and fallen for so many more in writing this!
So it has been a labor of love, for sure. So far I only have two paid subscribers, cousins of my husband’s who were kind enough to throw some funds my way, thank you to Mary and Todd if you’re reading. I’m not at all sure how many of you would be willing to pony up if I went full paid subscriber only…we’ll have to see!!
If you’ve been reading, thank you. Reach out if you’d like me to continue in the fall, would love to hear feedback on what works and what doesn’t. And for now, happy summer!!!
In Peace + Harmony,
Steph
P.S., if you want to know about any upcoming sound bath events, go to my website, sacredbloomtribe.com, and you can subscribe there. Maybe in the fall I will streamline my efforts!!! :)
